Why Practice SomaYoga? Your invitation is waiting...

Many people come to yoga looking for relief from physical tension or ailments, and/or to calm a busy mind. Establishing a yoga practice definitely tends the physical level of our being, and you have likely felt the benefits of practice move beyond the physical.

So, have you tried a yoga practice methodology that is specifically aimed at releasing tension in the physical body? Cue SomaYoga!

What is SomaYoga?
At a physical level, SomaYoga works to release commonly found stress reflex patterns that can cause dysfunction and pain in bodies and minds by blending Somatics, therapeutic yoga, and classic asana. SomaYoga was created by our teachers Ann Maxwell and Molly McManus at the Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute in Duluth, MN.

Somatics involves finding intentional movement where one senses and feels from the viewpoint of their particular Soma (mind, body and spirit). It asks us to cultivate an internal experience instead of concentration outward on external appearance or an end result.

All together, this unique blend of practices gives the potential of freeing us from chronic pain and aims to improve physical functioning that serves our favorite ways to move!

We welcome all levels, abilities, and goals. This methodology is beneficial to anyone who wants to live with more freedom and ease in their whole being.

Our Experience with SomaYoga
We have both studied extensively for years in the SomaYoga methodology. This method has taught us the value of slowing down and building the skill of interoception, which is the ability to sense and feel from the inside out. This practice is SO MUCH MORE than finding a posture. It is a process of unwinding and relearning new, supportive mind-body patterns. You will begin to see the benefit, even if you only commit to one practice per week.

Schedule time to take a class from our weekly live class schedule. Class recordings are also available! More weekly classes will be added soon, so stay tuned for the announcement of new additions to our Satsang Yoga Collective schedule.

>>> What is so beautiful about this practice is that when you consciously release unconsciously held tension on the physical layer of your being, you often relieve tension through the other layers of your being as well. You find more space for focused breathing, calm thinking, intuitive action, and, overall, you operate with more curiosity and joy!

Happy New Year!
